NHCUCC SMS Messaging Privacy Policy and Terms

The New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ (“NHCUCC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable federal regulations regarding SMS (text message) communications, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA guidelines. By opting in to receive SMS messages from us, you agree to the policy and terms outlined below.
1. Purpose of SMS Messaging
NHCUCC uses SMS messages as part of its mission to support and nurture the life and ministries of congregations and leaders across New Hampshire. SMS communications may include:
Invitations to events, programs, and initiatives
Volunteer and giving opportunities
Fundraising campaigns
Status updates, reminders, or urgent alerts
Conversational replies and follow-ups from staff
We do not send third-party marketing or unrelated promotional content through SMS.
2. How to Opt In
You will only receive text messages from NHCUCC if you provide express written consent, which may occur by:
Sending an SMS with the word START, JOIN, or NHCUCC to our designated number
Texting us first, thereby initiating a conversation
Emailing your name and phone number with a request to opt-in to nhcucc@nhcucc.org
Checking an opt-in box or signing a form during event registration or communication preference updates
By opting in, you confirm that you are the authorized user of the provided mobile number.
3. Message Frequency
NHCUCC generally replies individually to your inquiries.
On average, you can expect to receive 1–2 messages per month, though you may receive up to 10 messages monthly during active program periods.
Message frequency may vary based on your engagement. NHCUCC reserves the right to adjust this frequency at any time.
4. Message and Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier’s plan. NHCUCC is not responsible for any charges you may incur from your wireless provider.
5. Opt-Out Instructions
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by sending any of the following keywords:
STOP
QUIT
UNSUBSCRIBE
After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message. Please note that opting out of SMS does not affect other communication preferences such as email.

8. Your Responsibilities and Prohibited Use

Only provide mobile numbers you own or control
Not use NHCUCC’s SMS service to send spam, unlawful content, or inappropriate material
NHCUCC reserves the right to terminate your participation in the program if misuse is detected.
9. Liability Disclaimer
NHCUCC is not responsible for:
Delays, message failures, or technical interruptions caused by mobile carriers or third-party providers
Charges or fees associated with SMS messaging
We will make every effort to provide timely, accurate messages.
10. Changes to This Policy
This SMS Messaging Policy and Terms may be updated periodically. We will post the most current version at https://www.nhcucc.org/resources/sms-toc. Substantive changes that impact your privacy or terms of participation will be communicated directly. Continued use of our SMS service constitutes acceptance of any updates.
