You are invited to join us for a Chamber Music Recital - Music for Violin, Cello and Organ on May 30, 2025, 7 pm at Sanbornton Congregational Church!
This is a rare opportunity to hear music composed specifically in the trio format of violin, cello and organ.
Opening the program will be the Organ Concerto in G Minor, HWV 291 by Georg Frederick Handel (1685-1759). Although intended as a showcase piece for the organ, it also uniquely features the violin and cello in two charming duet movements.
Next heard will be an obscure early 20th century French work, “Cantilene”, by Lucien Niverd (1879-1967). Niverd was an educator and prolific composer. “Cantilene” is a rare example of impressionist chamber music that includes the organ.
Finally, the centerpiece composition for this recital will be The Suite for Organ Trio, Op. 149 by Josef Rheinberger (1839-1901). This substantial four-movement work was…
